Kentucky is considered a red state. In the federal government, Kentucky is represented by two U.S. Senators and six U.S. Representatives. Both Senators Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell are Republican. Of the six Representatives, five are Republican and one is a Democrat. Kentucky has a Democrat governor, Andy Beshear, who was reelected in 2023. The state legislature is also controlled by Republicans, who have majorities in both chambers.
