About our Miami Marlins news...
Latest news on the Miami Marlins, a professional baseball team based in Miami, Florida and part of the National Leagues’s East Division. Established in 1993 the Marlins are one of the more recent MLB expansion teams and were originally called the Florida Marlins. As part of a deal to relocate to a new stadium in downtown Miami, the Marlins were required to change their name in 2012 to the Miami Marlins.
Within just four seasons since their establishment the Marlins secured their first ever World Series championship in 1997 with a 4-3 win over Cleveland. They followed up this initial success with a second World Series title in 2003 making it two wins out of two in baseball’s championship game. Since this success the Marlins have only reached the off-season on one other occasion in 2020. The team colours are black, Miami blue, red and slate grey.
Before their stadium relocation in 2012 the Marlins played their home games at the Sun Life Stadium, a ground that they shared with the NFL team the Miami Dolphins. Their move to Marlins Park marked the first time the MLB side had their own dedicated stadium since their establishment in 1993.
