About our British Royal Family news
Latest news on the Royal Family, which comprises Charles III, King of the United Kingdom, and his close relations, also known as the House of Windsor.
Charles has been the UK's head of state since 8 September 2022, as the oldest person to become British monarch when he succeeded his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II. Only those born into the Royal Family can be in line to the throne. Those who marry a royal also become a member of the Royal Family.
As well as the King, other senior members of the UK Royal Family include his son William, Prince of Wales, who is first in line to the throne, and his wife, Catherine, the Princess of Wales (sometimes referred to by her informal first and maiden names, Kate Middleton). William's eldest child and second in line to the throne is Prince George of Wales.
The King’s siblings are Anne, the Princess Royal; Andrew, the Duke of York; and Edward, the Earl of Wessex. Fifth in line to the throne, but no longer a working member of the Royal Family is Charles' younger son, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, who is married to Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex (sometimes referred to by her maiden name, Meghan Markle).
