The Commanders were founded in 1932 as the Boston Braves, a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). They changed their name to the Boston Redskins in 1933 and moved to Washington in 1937.
The Commanders have had many legendary players, such as Sammy Baugh, John Riggins, Doug Williams, Darrell Green, and Art Monk. Some of them are inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
